Hello friends,

In the Winter I started working on a collaboration with Mark Beasley called Rest Notes (an email network with rhythm). As the name suggests, Rest Notes is all about taking breaks and pausing. As a user you are in control of how often you receive a digest email containing images and text from other Rest Note users. You can choose a rhythm (daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly) and also put things on pause.

This collaboration has also taken on a rhythm of its own. We tend to work on it in short sprints with long rests in-between. In March I visited Mark in LA and we worked together on Rest Notes. We also did some resting, stretching, and made a commercial for the project.

If you are curious about Rest Notes we started a waitlist. I know that sounds exclusive but we want to take things slow and grow the community deliberately.

For the last few weeks I've been in Rotterdam (now Amsterdam) working from Extra Practice, a space shared by five friends who wanted to create a “school-after-school” to support each other's practices.

It has been incredibly inspiring to see what they've created here and how they work together. While I've been here, we started working on a guide to help others navigate starting similar spaces. I will share more on this guide in a later email.

Extra Practice invited me to write their newsletter for May. Each month they take turns writing a newsletter to XP's friends. You can subscribe here if you'd like to read it (it should we sent in the next day or so). I would also recommend going through their newsletter archive - it is one of my favorite email newsletters in the world.

I also wanted to thank Emma, Gijs, Ben, Kirsten, and Jack for welcoming me into their space and lives over the last month. It has been so nice spending time together and learning from them.

I hope to continue to travel when I return to New York in June. I don't have a specific place in mind. I just want to be in motion and be inspired by new environments. Ideally I'm looking for something temporary (a few months)?! Are you subletting a nice room somewhere or need a temporary roommate? Let's get in touch.
